Jürgen Nielsen-Sikora

Jürgen Nielsen-Sikora (born July 25, 1973 in Cologne ) is a German historian .

Life

Nielsen-Sikora studied philosophy, education, history and psychology at the University of Cologne and the Free University of Berlin from 1995 to 1999 and graduated as a qualified teacher . He was in 2002 Holger Burckhart in philosophy doctorate . From 2000 to 2002 he was a scholarship holder of the Graduate Fund of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. From 2000 to 2003 he was a research assistant at the University of Cologne, then a research assistant in the Department for Didactics of the History and History of European Integration; In 2009 he became an academic councilor there . Since his habilitation in 2011 with Michael Gehler at the University of Hildesheim , he has been a private lecturer there . In 2012 he moved to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . In the main department of Scientific Services / Archives for Christian Democratic Politics, he was in charge of the contemporary history department . In December 2014 he moved to the University of Siegen and is responsible for the Hans Jonas Institute located there. In December 2018, he was awarded an extraordinary professorship for philosophy of education.

Nielsen-Sikora has received several awards from the Junge Akademie at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences and Humanities as well as from the Salzburg University Weeks. His main research area is the history of Europe in the 20th century, in particular the history of European integration.
