Jürgen Wolf (Medievalist)

Jürgen Wolf (* 1963 ) is a German germanistischer medievalist and professor.

Life

Wolf first studied chemistry from 1983 and then from 1984 to 1989 history, German and social studies at the Philipps University of Marburg . After completing his studies with the 1st state examination, he worked as a student assistant at the Marburg Repertory and worked on his dissertation , supported by a Jacob Grimm scholarship from the Ministry for Internal German Relations .

1993 Dr. phil. until 1999, Wolf was a research assistant in the DFG project MR13 . He held various teaching positions in the areas of German Medieval Studies and historical auxiliary sciences . From 1999 to 2002 he worked on his habilitation thesis Buch und Text, which was funded by a habilitation grant from the DFG . He received the Venia legendi for German Philology. From 2002 to 2010, Wolf was a research associate at the German Texts of the Middle Ages (DTM) at the Berlin-Brandenburg Academy of Sciences .

Since 2003 private lecturer at the Philipps University of Marburg, Wolf has taken over the professorship in Older German Literature Studies in Paderborn , Marburg and Berlin. In 2004 he received the 'Colloquia Academica' science award from the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz . He was a founding member of the manuscript census working group and headed the DFG project BR 2459 / 1-1 : The Arolsen Princely Library as a cultural and knowledge space from the 16th to the early 19th century and its influences on the genesis, formation and identity of the princely state .

2010 Wolf was on the W3 - Professor nominated for German Philology of the Middle Ages at the University of Marburg. He is the current editor of the magazine for German antiquity and German literature (ZfdA) and its supplements. He has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse since 2012 .

In 2012, Wolf and Nigel F. Palmer were experts in the sale of the Stralsund high school library . As a result of this report, the Hanseatic City of Stralsund is trying to reverse the sale and restore the broken collection.
