Jürgen Wolf (born March 10, 1957 in Beerfelden ) is a former German cross-country skier , trainer and sports official .

Life

As a member of the German national cross-country skiing team, he took part in international competitions. After his sporting career and after completing his sport studies, he worked as a sport teacher at the Albertus Magnus High School in Viernheim . In 1993 he passed the exam to become a qualified trainer at the Cologne Trainer Academy of the German Olympic Sports Confederation. The study of sports science followed by a doctorate took place at the sports science faculty of the University of Leipzig.

Coaching career

His coaching career began in 1988 as the national coach of the women's national team in cross-country skiing. In 1993 Wolf became head of trainer training. In 1996 he founded the Rehabilitation Center Neckar-Odenwald, a day clinic in Eberbach-Beerfelden, with him as managing partner.

In 1999 the DSV appointed him head coach for cross-country skiing and led the women's national team to Olympic victory in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City . With another 4 medals (2 × silver and 2 × bronze), the German cross-country skiers achieved their best result at the Olympic Winter Games in 2002.

As a science coordinator (2002–2004) and as a team coordinator (2004–2006), Jürgen Wolf supervised the national ski jumping team and worked in a team with national trainers Reinhard Heß , Wolfgang Steiert and Peter Rohwein .

From 2010 Jürgen Wolf worked as director for the area of ​​sport development in the German Ski Association. In 2015 he changed the position in the DSV and since then has been responsible full-time for coach training in competitive sports.

Through a cooperation agreement between the German Speed ​​Skating Association (DESG) and the DSV, Jürgen Wolf was appointed national trainer for education and science at DESG in 2015. Here he works closely with sports director Robert Bartko in the field of coach and association development. The cooperation agreement had a term of three years and ended in 2018.

Jürgen Wolf is the author of various sports books and a member of the educational advisory board of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB).

Wolf is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Cologne Trainer Academy. He represents the interests of the DSV in various specialist committees at national and international level.
