Jürgen Zürbig

Jürgen Zürbig (born October 11, 1944 in Danzig ; † August 26, 2014 ) was a German chemist and developer of the first catalytic converter for trucks .

Life

After graduating from high school in Düsseldorf, Zürbig studied chemistry in Erlangen from 1966 to 1973 . After completing his studies, he worked from 1973 to 1977 as a scientific assistant at the chair for inorganic and analytical chemistry and from 1978 to 1979 at the chair for materials science (glass and ceramics) at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg . His dissertation was published in 1983 under the title: Preparative, spectrometric and structural chemical investigations on compounds with mercury-sulfur bonds .

He then went into business and worked for many years as head of the development department in the Siemens ceramics factory in Redwitz an der Rodach . Later he was managing director of a company in Austria.

From 1993, Dr. Jürgen Zürbig honorary chairman of the BRK district association Lichtenfels and has developed it into a considerable employer in the Lichtenfels district. On August 26, 2014, Dr. Jürgen Zürbig with his family after suffering from cancer for a long time.
