Jürgen Zieger

Jürgen Zieger (* 1955 in Herzogenrath ) is a German politician ( SPD ). He is Lord Mayor of the city of Esslingen am Neckar in Baden-Württemberg . Zieger is married and has three children.

Professional background

Zieger studied architecture from 1973 to 1977 at the FH Aachen and from 1977 and 1980 urban and regional planning at the University of Oldenburg , where he worked on his dissertation project from 1982 to 1986 and obtained a doctorate in economics and social sciences.

From 1981 to 1984 Zieger worked as an urban planner in an office for municipal development planning and as a freelancer and partner in a planning association in the field of residential and urban development. From 1984 to 1985 Zieger was an urban planner in the municipal building department of Singen am Hohentwiel. From 1985 to 1988 he headed the municipal building department of the city of Oberkochen as a city architect . From 1988 to 1997 he was 1st Mayor of Neckarsulm . During the same period he was Technical Assistant in Neckarsulm and was unanimously re-elected as Technical Assistant in 1996 for the second term of office.

In 1993 Zieger joined the SPD . He has been Lord Mayor of Esslingen am Neckar since 1998.
