Max von Mülberger
Maximilian Georg Mühlberger , from 1912 von Mülberger , (born June 12, 1859 in Stuttgart ; † April 23, 1937 there ) was Lord Mayor of Esslingen am Neckar .
family
Mülberger was a son of the Finance Councilor Carl Mülberger in Stuttgart and his wife Emma, née. Leisinger. The family came from Alsace and was related to the Cotta family in Tübingen. His brother Arthur Mülberger (1847–1907), doctor, writer and railway reformer, dealt with the socio-political ideas of Pierre-Joseph Proudhon . In 1894 Max Mülberger married his cousin Elisabeth Leisinger (1863–1933), a soprano at the Berlin Court Opera , with whom he had three children: Clara, Erika and Wolfgang Mülberger .
Life
Mülberger passed the matriculation examination in 1879 at the grammar school in Stuttgart. He then studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . In 1880 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Tübingen . After the exams and traineeship training , he was a judge at the district courts of Stuttgart, Neuenbürg, Esslingen and Biberach. On April 7, 1892, he was elected the last Esslinger Stadtschultheißen ( mayor since 1893 ) for life. He held this office until his retirement on September 30, 1929. During the Kingdom of Württemberg from 1906 to 1918, Mülberger was initially a non-party member of the Second Chamber of the Württemberg Landtag .
In 1912 he joined the German party , but switched to the DDP after 1918 . From 1919 to 1924 he was a member of the Landtag of the Free People's State of Württemberg .
Mülberger was at times representative of Württemberg on the board of the German Association of Cities .
Mülbergerstrasse in Esslingen is named after him.
