Elisabeth Leisinger , from 1894 Mülberger-Leisinger (born May 17, 1863 in Stuttgart , † December 14, 1933 in Kreischau ) was a German opera singer ( coloratura soprano ).

Life

Helene Elisabeth Leisinger was the daughter of the soprano Bertha Leisinger and the Württemberg chief medical officer Julius Leisinger. After her father died, she continued her training as a singer against her mother's opposition. She studied at the Stuttgart Conservatory and in Paris with Pauline Viardot-Garcia . After a few successful concerts in Stuttgart, she was engaged at the Berlin Court Opera in 1884 , where she made her debut as Rosina in the Barber of Seville and participated in the world premiere of the opera Hero by Ernst Frank . A trip to Paris in 1886 to perform at the Grand Opéra resulted in Elisabeth Leisinger breaking her contract with the Berlin Court Opera. Only because of an act of grace by the emperor could she appear there again. Her roles at the Berlin Court Opera included Queen Marguerite in Giacomo Meyerbeer's Huguenots , Frau Fluth in Lustige Weibern von Windsor , Marie in La fille du régiment , Philine in Mignon by Ambroise Thomas , Pamina in the Magic Flute , the Countess in Figaro's wedding , Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni , Agathe in Freischütz , Marguerite in Gounod's Faust , Elisabeth in Tannhauser , Eva in Meistersinger and in 1888 Turandot in the world premiere of the opera of the same name by Theobald Rehbaum .

Elisabeth Leisinger also appeared as a concert singer, including at the Leipzig Gewandhaus concerts. In 1893 she took part in the Beethoven celebration in Bonn.

After her marriage to the Mayor of Esslingen , Max von Mülberger , she ended her career. Documents from her estate are in the Esslingen City Archives , including a diary about the trip to the International Maritime Congress in St. Petersburg , which she made in 1908 with her husband and Albert Brinzinger .
