history

The company goes back to JDA Software Services , an IBM service provider , founded by James Donald Armstrong in Calgary , Canada in 1978 . In 1985 Armstrong sold his Canadian company and together with his partner Frederick M. Pakis founded JDA Software, Inc. in Cleveland , Ohio . In 1987 the company was able to conclude a major contract with a vehicle dealer in Phoenix (Arizona) and then moved its headquarters to Arizona . In the years that followed, the company focused primarily on providing software packages and consulting services for the retail information and transactional needs. On March 15, 1996, the legal form was changed to an Incorporation and the company went public . In April 2000 the Intactix Division , a provider of integrated merchandise management systems and business-to-business solutions for retailers and their suppliers, in September 2001 the E3 Corporation (inventory optimization systems for wholesalers and retailers), in July 2006 the Manugistics Group ( Demand chain management software solutions) and i2 Technologies (supply chain management solutions) in January 2010 , taken over and integrated into the company. As a result, JDA Software expanded its range of products in the areas of replenishment planning, inventory management and transport and was able to acquire around 6,000 corporate customers of various sizes worldwide by 2010, including Coca-Cola , Infineon , Liberty Global , Puma , Renault , Rossmann , TE Connectivity (to Tyco Electronics ) and Thales Group .

On July 7, 2009, the company acquired a 49 percent stake in the German Strategix Enterprise Technology GmbH , based in Düsseldorf .

On December 21, 2012, JDA Software announced the merger with the US logistics software provider RedPrairie from Alpharetta , Georgia.
