Young group of the United Methodist Church
The Young Group of the Methodist Church ( JEMK for short ) is a youth association of the Methodist Church in German-speaking Switzerland . The association offers leisure activities for children and young people , which are run by young people on a voluntary basis.
history
The association was formed in 1969 from the union of the young groups of the Methodist Church and the Evangelical Community. In 1973 the JEMK offered the first youth and sport training courses. At first, girls and boys were separated. In the course of the 1980s, many of these came together. At the 1999 youth group meeting, the new guidelines were adopted. These include a way of working on the three main focuses of training, supervision of the young charter teams and working with an annual focus. In 2000 the first Swiss meeting took place over 10 days in Affoltern in the Emmental . A second Swiss meeting was held in 2005 and a third one was held in 2011. The last Swiss meeting took place in 2016 in Walliswil near Wangen under the title "The Secret of the Hourglass" . The next Swiss meeting is expected to take place in 2021.
