JOHNman
JOHNman (John Eicke, born September 9, 1965 ) is a Berlin Living Doll artist. He is the only actor so far to have won the World Living Statues Festival in Arnhem, the Netherlands, twice (2010 and 2013) .
Artistic career
First projects
In 1987 John Eicke gave up his actual profession in favor of his artistic activity. At first he was an extra or small actor in numerous television and film productions. Shortly afterwards he joined the Berlin “Theater an der Spitze” (today bread factory ), where he worked as an actor and later also as a stage director. This is where his strength for wordless staging turned out to be. At the same time he works as assistant to the magician Peter Kersten , for whom he performed tricks, built props and prepared the stage.
As a living doll
In 1992 he first appeared as Living Doll. The previously little known form of entertainment in Germany was picked up by a group of artists and initially shown mainly at events and gala events. After two years, John Eicke began his solo career. He created the superordinate fictional character JOHNman, who can be modified into numerous other characters. At times he works with other Living Doll artists, but also with airbrushers, as in the "Color 2 Man" project with Enrico Lein. JOHNman's characters are now performing at festivals in Europe and around the world, including Canada, China, India, Ireland, Spain, Indonesia, Kosovo, Thailand and England. In 2015, JOHNman was hired by Circus Roncalli for the German Pavilion at the EXPO in Milan .
On January 3, 2017, John Eickes' appointment as international artistic director of the World Living Statues Festival 2017 was announced.
