Jacek Gutorow
Jacek Gutorow (born September 12, 1970 in Grodków ) is a Polish poet , literary historian , literary critic and translator .
Life
Gutorow attended the primary school in Chróścina Nyska and from 1985 to 1990 the grammar school in Nysa . After graduating from high school, he studied English at the University of Opole . In 1993 he made his debut as a poet with poems published in NaGłos magazine . In 1994 he made his debut as a literary critic with the essay Zagajewski , which was also published in NaGłos . In 1995 he obtained his master's degree and was employed at the Institute for English Philology at the University of Opole. In 1999 he received his doctorate from the Silesian University in Katowice with the thesis Auto / biography and Deconstruction. Francis Thompson, de Quincey i WB Yeats . His doctoral supervisor was Tadeusz Sławek . From 2002 to 2013 he was head of the department for English-language literatures at the Institute for English Philology at the University of Opole. In 2002 he received a scholarship from the Stephan Báthory Foundation and spent the year at Trinity College , Oxford . In 2008 he completed his habilitation at the University of Opole with his thesis Luminous Traversing. Wallace Stevens and the American Sublime . In 2010 he was appointed associate professor at the University of Opole, where he has also been editor-in-chief of the annual Explorations since 2013 . A Journal of Language and Literature operates.
He lives in Opole .
