Jacek Namieśnik (2016)

Jacek Namieśnik (born December 10, 1949 in Mogilno , † April 14, 2019 in Danzig ) was a Polish engineer , chemist and since September 1, 2016 rector of the Technical University of Danzig . His areas of expertise were analytical chemistry and environmental chemistry.

Life

After graduating from high school (I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Jana Kasprowicza) in Inowrocław in 1967, he began his studies at the Chemical Faculty of the Technical University of Gdansk. Immediately after completing his studies, he was a doctoral candidate at the same TU from 1972 to 1978 under Prof. Edmund Kozłowski . The topic of his dissertation was: “Determination of the total carbon and the total organic carbon of volatile air pollutants” ( Oznaczanie całkowitej zawartości węgla oraz zawartości węgla organicznego z lotnych zanieczyszczeń powietrza ). In 1985 he completed his habilitation with the text: "Enrichment of volatile organic air pollutants" ( Zagęszczenie lotnych organicznych zanieczyszczeń powietrza ) and was appointed professor on January 15, 1996.

Between 1990 and 1996 he was Vice Dean for Education at the Chemistry Faculty of the Technical University of Danzig. Furthermore, he was dean of the same faculty from 1996 to 2002 and from 2005 to 2012. Since 1995 he has been the director of the Institute for Analytical Chemistry, which was awarded as a center of excellence. He is a member of the Senate (since 1990) and head of doctoral procedures at the Chemistry Faculty of the TU Danzig. In 2016 he was elected rector of the Technical University of Danzig for 4 years. As rector, he also served as the vice-president of the Polish Technical University Rectors' Conference ( Konferencja Rektorów Polskich Uczelni Technicznych , KRPUT).
