Jack Trevor story

Jack Trevor Story (born March 30, 1917 in Hertford ; died December 5, 1991 in Milton Keynes ) was a British writer.

Life

Jack Trevor Story came from a small family, his father was killed in World War I. His mother moved to Cambridge , where she found work as a cleaning lady. Story had to work as a shop boy from an early age. Story was married three times and had eight children. He was often broke, which required the effort of a new work.

As a teenager he devoured inexpensive booklet literature and the music magazine Melody Maker . Story was an autodidact, a quick writer and a prolific writer, it took him two to three weeks to write a new story. William Saroyan was a role model for him in terms of style and subject. He also wrote under the pseudonyms Alex Atwell and Rex Riotti. Under the pseudonym Bret Harding he had his first successes with wild west novels . He is also the author of some of the Sexton Blake detective stories. He also wrote scripts for television plays. In the 1970s he had a newspaper column in The Guardian .

In the 1970s he moved to the planned city of Milton Keynes and stayed there as a poet on residence. He worked intermittently for the local radio. He appeared on national television in 1979 in the series Jack on the Box . His last radio diary was called Jack's Last Tape .

His novel The Trouble with Harry was used by Alfred Hitchcock in 1955 for the script of the black comedy of the same name .
