Jacob Nampudakam SAC (born August 10, 1955 in Ayyampara, Kerala ) is an Indian religious . Since 2010 he has been the 19th General Rector and 22nd Superior General of the Pallottines .

Life

Father Nampudakam entered the St. Charles Seminary in Nagpur , Maharashtra, India . After his theological training, he was ordained a priest in 1981 and was vicar, pastor and later master of novices in the Nagpur Province and director of the Centro de Animação Palotina . He studied philosophy and spirituality as well as psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University .

Jacob Nampudakam was appointed General Secretary of the Pallottines in Rome by Rector General Séamus Freeman and was particularly committed to the subject of education. From 2004 to 2010 he was General Councilor of the religious order.

The XX. The Pallottine General Assembly elected Jacob Nampudakam as the new Rector General on October 4, 2010 in Ariccia near Rome. He is the first non-European to hold this office.

Pope Francis called Nampudakam to the Congregation of the Order on March 29, 2014 .
