Friedrich (Fritz) Kretz SAC (born June 16, 1952 in Mühlhausen im Kraichgau ) is a German Pallottine priest and was Rector General of the Pallottine Order between 2004 and 2010.

Life

After graduating from high school in St. Paulusheim in Bruchsal, Fritz Kretz was a contract soldier in the German Armed Forces for two years . In 1974 he entered the postulate and novitiate of the Palloziner in Untermerzbach . In 1981, after completing his theological and philosophical training in Bruchsal, he was ordained a priest . His first Mass celebrated Kretz on 22 March 1981 in the parish of St. Cecilia in Mulhouse.

He worked as a chaplain in Augsburg, prefect in the Paulusheim in Bruchsal and vicar in Stuttgart. From 1990 to 1996 he was rector of the novitiate of his order for the German-speaking provinces and regions based in Untermerzbach. In 1996 he became Provincial of the Pallottine Sacred Heart Province in Germany.

On October 7, 2004, at the 19th General Assembly of the Pallottines, he was elected Rector General of the International Society of the Order of the Pallotines based in Rome . In 2007 he was confirmed in office for another three years. His term of office ended in 2010. He restructured the worldwide order and merged, among other things, the north and south German provinces and was committed to the spiritual renewal of the community in the spirit of its founder.

After taking a break from caring for his parents in need of care from 2010 to 2013 in Mühlhausen, Kretz was vice rector in the Pallottine mission house in Limburg and pastor in Friedberg .

2017 he founded with his brother Reinhold Order Maise SAC in Konstanz a Cenacle , a house of silence and prayer next to the Constance Minster .
