Jacoba Surie
Jacoba (Coba) Surie (born September 5, 1879 in Amsterdam ; † February 5, 1970 ibid) was a Dutch portrait painter , graphic artist , lithographer and member of the Amsterdamse Joffers .
Life
Coba Surie was born in Amsterdam in 1879 as the daughter of broker Hendrik Carel Surie and Sara Johanna Lingeman. She was trained at the Teekenschool voor den Werkenden Stand in Amsterdam and later at the Reichsakademie in Amsterdam. Here she received lessons from Coba Ritsema and Joseph Mendes da Costa, among others . Works by Surie are in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, the Art Museum The Hague and the City Museum Helmond .
