Old village Jacobswoude

Jacobswoude is named after a village of the same name that was abandoned in the middle of the 18th century. The inhabitants of this village, which had now become an island, moved to Woubrugge. At the place where the former village Jacobswoude stood, there is a monument with the following text:

  • North side: "Her-innering an het verdwenen dorp Jacobswoude"
  • East side: "1747–1936"
  • South side: "Geen muren verduren der uuren geweld"

The province of South Holland plans to erect a new monument with a poem by Anton Korteweg.
