Jacques Clément (* 1567 in Serbonnes ; † August 1, 1589 in Saint-Cloud ) was a Dominican who had the French King Henry III. stabbed.

Clément was a member of the Catholic League , which gave him Henry III in his plan. to kill helped. On July 31, 1589, he left Paris and traveled with letters for the king to Saint-Cloud , the king's headquarters .

When Heinrich III. reading the letters that Clément had given him , Clément stabbed the king with a knife. The rushing guards killed Clément on the spot. Henry III. died of the injuries the next day. Clément's body was quartered and cremated in Paris on the Place de Grève (now Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville ) .
