Kaldbak [ ˈkalːbak ] is a place in the Faroe Islands in the southeast of the main island of Streymoy .

Kaldbak belongs administratively to the capital city municipality, but geographically it is located away from the closed settlement area on the north bank of the fjord Kaldbaksfjørður .

Excavations have shown that people have been settling here since the 11th century. The typical Faroese wooden church with the grass roof dates from 1835. It was not until 1980 that Kaldbak was connected to the Faroe Islands road network. Salmon is raised in the local aquaculture . In the 1970s and 1980s, fiberglass boats modeled after the classic Viking boat type were built here . These boats can still be found all over the Faroe Islands today.
