Hvítanes [ ˈkvʊitaneːs ] ( Danish name : Hvidenæs ) is a place in the Faroe Islands near the capital Tórshavn .

Hvítanes is located north of the capital on the east coast of Streymoy . The place was founded in 1837 . Today they are planning a submarine tunnel to Skálafjørður on Eysturoy . This would shorten the travel time from Tórshavn to the metropolitan areas around Runavík and Nes considerably.
