Jacques Morier-Genoud

Jacques Morier-Genoud (born October 3, 1934 in Château-d'Oex , resident in Château-d'Œx) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Morier-Genoud studied law and successfully licensed in 1956 and received a doctorate in comparative law in 1958 . In 1960 he received the bar exam in Lausanne . From 1963 he worked for the independent weekly newspaper "Domaine public" in western Switzerland .

In 1965 he was elected to the municipal council of Lausanne and had a seat there until 1969. From 1966 to 1975 he was on the Grand Council of the canton of Vaud , before he was elected to the Council of States for the same canton in 1975 , where he had a seat until 1979. In the Council of States, he mainly dealt with agriculture , national defense , spatial planning and transport .

Morier-Genoud also chaired the New Helvetic Society in 1965 , was administrator of the Lausanne housing cooperative from 1976 to 1994 and was president of the Swiss Confederation for Nature Conservation from 1985 to 1995.
