Jacques d'Albon, seigneur de Saint-André , Marquis de Fronsac (* around 1505 ; † December 19, 1562 in the Battle of Dreux ) was Marshal of France , who distinguished himself in the wars against the Spanish and in the wars of religion .

Life

After he had distinguished himself in the wars against Spain , he was appointed Marshal of France and Governor of Lyon by the French King Henry II in 1547 .

In 1557 he was captured in Saint-Quentin , but was released in time to take part in the negotiations that led to the Peace of Cateau-Cambrésis between King Henry II and King Philip II in 1559 .

In April 1561 he formed a triumvirate with Anne de Montmorency and François de Lorraine, duc de Guise against the Huguenots and the reigning Queen Catherine de Medici . He thus brought about the outbreak of the wars of religion.

He fell in 1562 in the battle of Dreux.
