Jad Fair (* 1954 in Ann Arbor , Michigan) is an American musician and artist .

Together with his brother David Fair, Jad Fair founded the band Half Japanese in 1975 . 1980 appeared with Zombies of Mora Tam a first solo album; In addition to other own recordings, he has mainly collaborated with other musicians such as Daniel Johnston , R. Steve Moore , Mark Kramer , Steve Shelley , Thurston Moore , Yuri Landman , Jason Willett , Fred Frith , Moe Tucker and bands like Yo La Tengo or Teenage Fan club released numerous albums and EPs.

Jad Fair also works as a draftsman and makes paper cuts, which are often used as the basis for the artwork of his albums. He also draws comics and sometimes anime characters. His drawings were published, for example, in The Attack of Everything (2000) or most recently in Blue Skies and Monsters (2007) and shown in Indianapolis and Bremen in 2007 under the title A Happier Happiness .
