action

Baldur, who is in his forties, is a gruff journalist for a tabloid in Reykjavík . One day a little newspaper article changes his life forever. In a photo of a security guard who died the day before in an alleged work accident at a power station in the north of the country, his mother discovered his missing father by chance. The curious Baldur then tries to find out more about his biological father, whom he had never met, and the mysterious circumstances that ultimately led to his death.

The journalist travels "undercover" to the remote power plant and is hired there as a security guard. In the midst of a wintery snowy landscape, he met his taciturn colleagues around security chief Péter, who openly reject him after a few days. The three men and the cook Ásta are keeping a secret: they are secretly operating an illegal trade in reindeer meat . When Baldur is exposed as a journalist, the conspiratorial community fears that their machinations could be exposed, not knowing that the reporter is only trying to solve the murder of his father. The situation for Baldur is therefore gradually coming to a head. Only the presence of Freyja, a farmer who supplies the power station with provisions, offers Baldur a little security in the midst of the darkness and loneliness. Between Baldur and Freyja - who runs a nearby farm with her sick mother in need of care - a tender love affair sprouts. When Baldur researched Freyja's past and named Péter, the head of security, as a possible perpetrator for a mistreatment and rape of Freyja's mother, the accused lost all control over his actions. Fearing possible consequences, he tries to murder Baldur - but his plan fails. After another attempted attack, Péter turned his fear of being exposed against the other power plant employees. Ultimately, he finds death in a wild scuffle.

At the end of the film, Baldur travels briefly to the Icelandic capital, but returns to Freyja, whose mother died later. Shortly after the funeral, Baldur happened to find out the circumstances that led to his father's death. Freyja once killed his father , who was suffering from cancer, in self-defense when he urged her about involvement in the abuse of Freyja's mother. Baldur is horrified and briefly leaves the courtyard, but returns after a short time.
