The Hubertushöhe hunting lodge near Storkow (Mark) is a listed historic complex above the lake shore of the Dolgen lake , which was used as a 5-star luxury hotel from 1998 to 2012.

Building history

The building, built in the style of a castle from 1899–1900 for the Berlin printer and publisher Georg Büxenstein as a representative country house or hunting lodge, including ancillary buildings, combines neo-Gothic forms with the Swiss style . The property was built according to designs by the Berlin architects Max Jacob and Georg Roensch in a surrounding landscape park in a combination of plastered masonry and exposed half-timbering. The residential building and farm wing with shed are opposite each other around an inner courtyard open to the lake. The main house has a tower with an octagonal floor plan under a pointed helmet. The handicraft decoration of the house is guided by hunting motifs by well-known artists. The decorative paintings in the interior are by Julius Bodenstein , the animal paintings by Karl Wagner and the carvings in the hall and dining room by the sculptor Gotthold Riegelmann, consisting of animal and hunting motifs .

The owner of the property sold it in 1916. From the early 1950s to 1989, the Hubertushöhe was used as an engineering school for inland fishing in the GDR.

The property was privatized by the Treuhandanstalt after 1990 and has been operated as a hotel with 23 suites and rooms as well as a luxury-class restaurant under the name Schloss Hubertushöhe since the renovation in 1998 .

In 2002, the then Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder met here with Jacques Chirac , then President of France .

On 14 February 2012, was from the operating company, Hotel Schloss Hubertushöhe GmbH , because of insolvency and overindebtedness at Amtsgericht Frankfurt (Oder) , the insolvency proceedings opened. Hotel and restaurant will not reopen. The castle is to become the "Art and Literature Park Hubertushöhe" (as of August 2013). Meanwhile, the castle building is open for weddings, meetings and special events. The castle park is open to the public in the summer months. There is a small restaurant at the castle harbor.
