Jake E. Lee (* 15. February 1957 in Norfolk , Virginia as Jakey Lou Williams ) is an American rock - and heavy metal guitarist.

biography

Lee grew up in West Virginia , the son of a Japanese woman and a Navy soldier , until the family later moved to San Diego , California . His mother forced him to take piano lessons at a young age . At the same time he got to know bands like Jimi Hendrix Experience or Led Zeppelin through his sister .

Jake E. Lee was one of the early members of the glam metal band Ratt around 1980 and joined the US metal band Rough Cutt a short time later in 1982 . In 1983 Ozzy Osbourne was looking for a successor to the guitarist Brad Gillis, who had returned to Night Ranger , for his solo band . After his audition, Jake E. Lee was eventually selected from several possible candidates and recorded two regular studio albums with the band. After the release of the studio album The Ultimate Sin , he left the Ozzy Osbourne Band in 1987.

After separating from Ozzy Osbourne, he founded the blues hard rock band Badlands with Ray Gillen in 1988 , which disbanded in 1992. He later released the solo albums A Fine Pink Mist and Retraced and participated in numerous tribute albums, including a. Tributes to Rush and Jeff Beck .

On January 24, 2014, the album Red Dragon Cartel by Lee's band of the same name was released . In addition to the singer of the band, Darren James Smith, Robin Zander , Paul Di'Anno , Maria Brink and Sass Jordan also contributed the vocals for individual tracks.
