Rough Cutt was an American glam metal - band from Los Angeles , California . The band owes their fame, among other things, to some connections to well-known personalities in the rock music scene , such as the producer Tom Allom , who has also worked for bands like Judas Priest and Krokus .

The band's lead singer is Paul Shortino , who temporarily represented Kevin DuBrow at Quiet Riot . Ex- Quiet Riot bassist Sean McNabb (including House of Lords , Dokken ) played temporarily with Rough Cutt. Many of Ratt's early band members went to Rough Cutt: Chris Hager (on guitar ), Joey Cristofanilli and Matt Thorr (both on bass ), and David "Dave" Alford (on drums ). The guitarist Amir Derakh plays with the synth-rock band Orgy , among others . Derakh, Alford and Thorr became known with the band Jailhouse .

Among other things, the rock guitarist Jake E. Lee was a musician with Rough Cutt before he became better known as the successor to Brad Gillis through Ozzy Osbourne's band.

Two of the band's early demos were produced by renowned heavy metal singer Ronnie James Dio under the titles Used And Abused and A Little Kindness . Rough Cutt played in 1984 in the opening act of the band Dio , whose singer then brought the group on stage in 1986 as part of his Hear'n Aid project . The band's manager was temporarily Ronnie James Dio's wife, Wendy Dio. Dio and his wife were also involved in the band's first album - namely the lyrics to Take her , Dreamin 'again and Black Widow . In addition, the band was initially shaped by the later Dio members Craig Goldy (guitar) and Claude Schnell ( keyboard ).
