Jakob Wassermann Literature Prize
The Jakob Wassermann Literature Prize is a literary prize that was donated by Jakob Wassermann's birthplace, the city of Fürth , in memory of Jakob Wassermann in 1993 and has been awarded since 1996. It is endowed with 10,000 euros. Until 2002, the prize was awarded every three years, and since then every two years. In 2007 it was awarded outside the series on the occasion of the city anniversary of Fürth.
The board of trustees includes (as of 2013):
- a representative of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts ( Ota Filip )
- a literary critic of a regional daily newspaper (Inge Rauh, formerly Nürnberger Nachrichten )
- a professor for modern German literature ( Gunnar Och , Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg )
- a representative of the Bavarian Radio (Cornelia Zetzsche)
- a member of the German Academy for Language and Poetry , Darmstadt ( Jens Malte Fischer )
- the mayor of the city of Fürth as chairman ( Thomas Jung )
- the advisor responsible for culture as his deputy (Elisabeth Reichert)
- two honorary city council members, without voting rights (Birgit Arnold and Angelika Ledenko).
