Jakob Bürgi (politician)

Jakob Bürgi (born September 6, 1934 in Feusisberg , resident in Feusisberg) is a Swiss politician ( CVP ).

biography

The son of a farmer and cantonal councilor was born in Feusisberg in 1934. After primary and secondary school in Schindellegi and Wollerau , he completed the agricultural school in Pfäffikon . He worked as a farmer.

From 1958 to 1962 he was a member of the Feusisberg municipal council . From 1972 to 1984 he was district councilor for the farms and from 1982 to 1984 district administrator . In 1984 he was elected to the Schwyz Cantonal Council, of which he was a member until 1987. On November 30, 1987, Bürgi was elected to the National Council. In the National Council he took a seat in the Petitions and Warranty Commission, the Commission for Economy and Taxes, the Security Policy Commission and the Commission for Transport and Telecommunications, as well as the Agricultural Club. On December 3, 1995, Bürgi left the large chamber. During twelve years (1988-2000) he was mayor of Feusisberg.

Bürgi also presided over the farmers' association of Canton Schwyz (1978–1984), the church council of Schindellegi (1980–1982) and the interest group of Swiss small power plant owners (since 1993).
