Jakob Burkhard

Jakob Burkhard (born May 4, 1842 in Stebbach ; † September 8, 1925 there ) was a German politician. He was a farmer and mayor in Stebbach (today a district of Gemmingen in the Heilbronn district in Baden-Württemberg ). Burkhard was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Estates Assembly from 1899 to 1908 .

Life

Burkhard was the son of a Stebbach farmer and was baptized Protestant. He attended elementary school in his hometown, also found his job in agriculture and was a member of the agricultural association. From 1878 he was a councilor and from 1888 to 1922 he was mayor. From 1899 to 1908 he was a member of the Second Chamber of the Baden Landtag, initially from the 39th to the 41st session as a member of the Federation of Farmers in the Right-wing Association , and after the constituency reform then in the 42nd and 43rd session as a National Liberal. He spoke on questions of agriculture, but also on financial debates, unemployment, school issues, etc. Burkhard did not leave the mayor's office until he was 80 years old.
