Jakob Dörr (born March 19, 1884 in Eppingen ; † April 12, 1971 ibid) was a German politician ( CDU ). He was mayor of Knielingen from 1921 to 1933 and mayor of Eppingen from 1945 to 1948. In 1946 he was a member of the Constituent State Assembly of Württemberg-Baden and belonged to the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden from 1946 to 1952 . From 1946 to 1961 he was also a member of the Broadcasting Council of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk .

Life

He was born in Eppingen as the son of the farmer Jakob Dörr and his wife Elisabeth. Frey was born. Jakob Dörr attended elementary and secondary school there before embarking on an administrative career at the Grand Ducal District Office in Eppingen in 1901 . Until 1921 he worked as an internal auditor in several district offices and at the Baden Ministry of the Interior in Karlsruhe.

In 1921 he won the election as mayor of Knielingen , in 1930 he was confirmed in this office. During his term of office in Knielingen, numerous construction measures were carried out to improve the infrastructure, including the construction of waterworks and water pipes, the development of building land for residential and industrial areas and the tram line from Karlsruhe to Knielingen.

After the start of National Socialist rule, Dörr was prematurely retired in 1933. He returned to his hometown Eppingen and worked in his brother Hermann Dörr's cigar factory.

In April 1945 he was appointed mayor of Eppingen and held the office until 1948. He was one of the co-founders of the CDU local association in Eppingen. In addition to the reconstruction work in Eppingen, he was also active nationwide. He was among the new founders of the Association of Baden Municipalities and was initially chairman of the Association of North Baden, later until 1958 Chairman of the United Association of North and South Baden with a total of 1427 municipalities. In 1946 he was a member of the Constituent Assembly of Württemberg-Baden and from 1946 to 1952 of the state parliament of Württemberg-Baden . From 1946 to 1961 he was also a member of the Broadcasting Council of the Süddeutscher Rundfunk. His other offices included a seat on the supervisory board of the Badische Kommunale Landesbank, a mandate in the Sinsheim district council, chairing the administrative board of the Eppingen district savings bank and membership in numerous other federal and state bodies. He was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1952 and later the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class and in 1964 the Freiherr vom Stein plaque from the Association of Baden Municipalities . Jakob-Dörr-Strasse was named after him in Knielingen .
