Jakob Eisendle

Jakob Eisendle (born July 10, 1811 in Innerpflersch ( South Tyrol ); † August 24, 1888 there ) was a Tyrolean farmer , mechanic and inventor .

Eisendle's many inventions include a. a lens grinding machine , a self- winding mechanism for pocket watches (by means of a pendulum ), a fully automatic hammer mechanism for making files and a mapping device for easy terrain surveying . Although he never learned the craft of watchmaking , he was widely known as a "watch doctor" and was even asked for advice by master watchmakers.
