Jakob Friedrich von Berg

Jakob Friedrich von Berg (born February 4, 1734 , † December 19, 1797 in Ratibor ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the cuirassier regiment No. 12 .

Life

origin

His parents were Franz Jakob von Berg (* 1706; † February 3, 1739), Herr auf Neuhof, lieutenant in the cuirassier regiment No. 9, and his wife Charlotte Tugendreich, born von Heydeck (1710–1766) from the Neuhof family.

Military career

Berg became Standartenjunker in Cuirassier Regiment No. 9 in 1748 and a cornet on June 27, 1754 . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Prague , Breslau , Zorndorf , Hochkirch and the sieges of Prague and Schweidnitz . During this time he was promoted to lieutenant on January 24, 1758. He was stabbed in the hand at the Battle of Breslau.

After the war, he was promoted to staff cavalry officer on September 14, 1766 and to Rittmeister and company commander on October 5, 1768 . As such, he took part in the War of the Bavarian Succession . On November 3, 1779, Berg became major of Regiment No. 9, on June 27, 1788, Lieutenant Colonel and on September 18, 1790, Colonel . He received the position of regimental commander on November 17, 1793 and was promoted to major general on January 12, 1795. On October 2, 1796, the king appointed Berg to be chief of Cuirassier Regiment No. 12.

Berg was married to Johanna Christiane Neumann (* April 24, 1760; † January 28, 1819) from Löwen (Kr. Brieg) .
