Jakob Johann von Hastfer (born December 11, 1647 in Reval , † December 24, 1695 in Riga ) was the Swedish field marshal and governor general of Livonia .

Life

Count Jakob Johann von Hastfer came from the Hastfer family and was a son of Ewold von Hastfer († after 1678) and Emerentia Veronika von Mengden († 1676).

Hasfer was promoted to the Swedish baron status in 1678 as Freiherr von Kostfer and Middewa , and in 1687 as Count von Gripenborg to the Swedish count status. He married Sigrid Gyllenstierna af Lundholmiga (1638–1700) in 1674 . The marriage resulted in three daughters and a son, Count Ewold Hastfer, who, however, stayed in front of Namur in 1695 , with which the Count's House of Hastfer was extinguished again.

In 1686 Hastfer became Governor General of Livonia. In this office he continued the goods reduction of Charles XI. with the greatest care. In 1687 he was a royal councilor with the rank of lieutenant general of the infantry and in 1690 became field marshal.

Hastfer was a major supporter of the re-establishment of the University of Dorpat by the Swedish King Charles XI. In 1690 he also became chancellor of the university as a result.

He was also the heir to Wibyholm, Claestrop, Sidholm and Mellerd.
