Jakob Kägi

Jakob Kägi (born July 25, 1886 in Egg ; † April 7, 1950 in Zurich ; resident in Egg) was a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Kägi attended the teachers' seminar in Küsnacht from 1902 to 1904 and the railway school in Biel from 1904 to 1906 . He then worked as an SBB station clerk. He also presided over the station assistants' association from 1912 to 1918 and the station staff association from 1919 to 1939. In 1919 he co-founded the Swiss Railway Union.

For the Social Democratic Party (SP) he sat from 1919 to 1934 and from 1936 to 1939 in the Erlenbach municipal council . He was also a member of the National Council from 1919 to 1950 . During this time he also sat for the SP in the Zurich Cantonal Council (1917–1939; President in 1934/1935) and in the Government Council (1939–1950; President in 1943/1944 and 1949/1950). In the government council he headed the health and poor management, from 1942 to 1947 the internal affairs and justice department and from 1947 the building department.

As a member of the government, Kägi was a sponsor of Kloten Airport . He died in office as a government and national councilor.
