Jakob Müller (politician, 1922)

Jakob Müller (born May 14, 1922 in Otterstadt ; † August 1, 1993 in Speyer ) was a German trade unionist and politician ( SPD ). From 1967 to 1971 he was a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate .

Life

After attending elementary school, Müller completed an apprenticeship as an electric welder. He did Reich Labor Service from 1939 and then took part in the Second World War as a soldier in the Air Force . Most recently he was captured by the United States, from which he was released in 1946.

From 1948 onwards, Müller worked as an electric welder at BASF in Ludwigshafen am Rhein . He joined the IG Chemie-Papier-Keramik and was elected to the works council in 1961, which he represented as a member of the company's supervisory board from 1962. In 1964 he was elected chairman of the works council. From 1963 he was a member of the administrative board of the IG Chemie-Papier-Keramik and from 1966 a member of the district board and the main board.

Müller joined the SPD in 1948 and was elected to the SPD district executive committee of the Palatinate in 1965. From 1948 he was a councilor in Otterstadt and from 1960 honorary mayor of the community.

For the 1965 federal election he ran unsuccessfully as a candidate for the SPD . In the state elections in 1967 he was elected as a member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate, to which he was a member until 1971. In the state parliament he was a member of the social policy committee.
