Jakob Ossner (born April 16, 1949 ) is a German philologist , linguist and linguist .

After studying German and philosophy in Regensburg and Heidelberg , Ossner initially worked as a high school teacher . From 1979 to 1989 he was a research assistant at the Ludwigsburg University of Education . During this time he published his first monographs. In 1989 Ossner was offered a position at the Heidelberg University of Education , where he worked as a professor until 1994 , before moving to the Weingarten University of Education . In 1997, as the successor to Hubert Ivo, he accepted a professorship for linguistics and language didactics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt / Main , which he held until 2003. That year he returned to the Weingarten University of Education, where he became the rectorate , which he held until 2008. He then moved to the St. Gallen University of Education.

In 2012 Jakob Ossner was awarded the Friedrich Prize for German Didactics.

Ossner is primarily concerned with research on language didactics. In particular, grammar and language awareness as well as orthography and orthography acquisition are key research areas for which he has already published various introductions.

He is co-author of the HRK publication on the future of teacher training in universities (= contributions to university policy 5/2006); Editor of the StandardWissen Lehramt series, co-editor of the didactics manual for the German language . From 1885 to 2014 he was a member of the editorial board of OBST (Osnabrück Contributions to Linguistics), 1996 - 2003 editor in charge of Didaktik Deutsch, since 1980 he has been Zeno. Yearbook for literature and criticism .

From 2004 to 2006 Ossner was a member of the German Spelling Council ; he headed the school working group and represented the council in drawing up the spelling framework for grades 1-10 in Baden-Württemberg.
