Jakob Pfenninger

Jakob Pfenninger (born April 16, 1841 in Hinwil (also Bürgerort); † June 27, 1891 in Zurich ) was a Swiss teacher , lawyer and politician .

Pfenninger was the son of Barbara Buchmann and the teacher and farmer Hans Jakob Pfenninger. He was reformed and married Katharina Barbara Weiss in 1865 and Elisabetha Margaretha Weiss in 1875 (both daughters of Johann Weiss from Selb (Bavaria)).

From 1857 to 1860 Pfenninger attended the teachers' seminar in Küsnacht and worked from 1860 to 1864 as a private secretary and district council clerk ; In 1864 he became the canton's procurator .

From 1864 to 1865 he studied in Leipzig and in 1865 became a lawyer in Hinwil. From 1867 he worked in Zurich; from 1867 to 1869 he was a substitute (trainee lawyer in the practical year) of the public prosecutor , from 1869 to 1878 government councilor (where he initially had the judiciary and medical system, from 1871 the judiciary and police, and from 1875 the finances under himself), and from 1878 lawyer.

Pfenninger delivered Sergei Gennadijewitsch Netschajew to the tsarist government . As an expert in railway issues, he advocated state subsidies for the Gotthard Railway .
