The Lührsbockeler Moor is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony city ​​of Soltau and the municipality of Wietzendorf in the Heidekreis district .

description

The nature reserve with the sign LÜ 296 is around 187  hectares . It is in Wietzenbruch between Soltau and Wietzendorf and sets abgetorftes bog under protection. The moorland borders a road in the northwest and is otherwise mostly bordered by forest. Within the nature reserve there are several grassland areas that are grazed extensively, and two areas in the north that are used for arable farming . There are also forest areas within the protected area.

After the peat extraction, which had lasted for several decades, the bog was rewetted and renatured in 2010 . The rewetting measures created large areas of shallow water. The forest areas in the nature reserve were also watered. Cotton grass and peat moss stocks are growing again in the areas where they have been wetted . At the margins of the mining areas typical bog vegetation with wet heaths with is bell and rosemary and the Middle sundew to find. Dry areas that can a. are taken up by common heather , should be developed into wet humid heather and non-local trees such as spruce , Douglas fir and the late blooming bird cherry should be displaced.

Live in the nature reserve a. Crane , lapwing , common snipe , curlew , gray shrike , wood sandpiper , spotted moorhen and water rail . Various butterflies such as peat bog owl , Haworth's moor meadow owl , bog blue owl , blue ribbon , yellow-brown bark owl and heather lawn owl, as well as dragonflies such as spear damsel , little moss damsel and high moor mosaic damsel find a habitat here.

The moor drains through ditches leading to the Wietze .

The designation as a nature reserve was decided on June 27, 2013. The nature reserve includes parts of the existing landscape protection area "Wilde Berge und Umgebung". The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Heidekreis.
