The Vehmsmoor is a nature reserve with the license plate number NSG LÜ 182 in the area of the city of Walsrode ( Heidekreis district , Lower Saxony ).
description
The 255 hectare Vehmsmoor lies between the Walsroder districts of Fulde and Vethem , three kilometers west of the city center of Walsrode and two kilometers south of the Autobahn 27 .
The Jordanbach , a tributary of the Böhme , drains the Vehmsmoor.
For centuries, peat was cut in the raised bog . Today it is covered with birch - pine quarry forest. There is still vegetation typical of raised bogs , consisting of cotton grass , cranberries , heather , sundew and, in the peat cuttings , peat moss . Pipe grass dominates the area. The crane is breeding again in the bog .

By ordinance of May 25, 1990, the Vehmsmoor was declared a nature reserve. The district of Heidekreis is responsible as the lower nature conservation authority.
