Jakob Schroer

Jakob Schroer (born March 18, 1879 in Rheinkamp ; † March 3, 1953 there ) was a German entrepreneur, local politician and honorary district administrator ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending school, he completed an agricultural training course and worked as a farmer . Schroer was a landowner and co-owner of a grain distillery and liqueur factory . He was married and had two children.

Member of the county council of the former county Moers he was from 1912 to 1933 and 28 January 1946 to November 9, 1951. From January 28, 1946 to November 4, 1946 he was District Administrator of the district. He was also from 1905 to 1993 a member of the municipal councils of Repelen-Baerl and Rheinkamp and from 1925 to 1933 a member of the Rhenish provincial council .

On December 24, 1952, the city of Rheinkamp honored Schroer with the letter of honorary citizen for his selfless commitment after the First World War for people suffering under occupation and economic need. Jakob-Schroer-Strasse was named after him in Rheinkamp. After the regional reform, the street is in Duisburg and Moers .
