from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Jakob Tugehenn (born around the middle of the 13th century; attested 1280–1299) was a Tyrolean notary active in Bolzano , who - similar to his predecessor Jakob Haas - was significant for the history of the medieval notarial profession due to his preserved document register (imbreviatur) from 1295 is.

Tugehenn's work as a palatinate notary becomes tangible from 1280, notarizations from his hand are proven up to 1299. He was the son of Heinz Tugehenn from Bozen and not only did his documents in Bozen, his business area also included the Überetsch , the Nonsberg and the Etschtal to Tesimo and Meran . His notarial record from the year 1295 (Trient State Archives), in which 772 individual records are preserved, is particularly significant. Apart from his spelling name, numerous Germanisms in his texts make it likely that it was a German-speaking notary.

According to documentary evidence, Tugehenn lived and worked at the Bolzano fruit market .
