Jakob Weismann

Jakob Weismann (born April 4, 1854 in Mainz , † August 24, 1917 in Greifswald ) was a German lawyer and university professor.

Jakob Weismann studied law in Heidelberg , Leipzig and Gießen from 1872 to 1875 . In Giessen he passed both legal exams and was awarded a doctorate in January 1876 after working in a law firm and a time as an assistant judge at the Leipzig Regional Court. iur. PhD . In 1879 he completed his habilitation in Leipzig. Then Weismann was a private lecturer until 1884 and an associate professor for law in Leipzig until 1886.

From 1886 to 1917 Weismann was Professor of Civil Procedure, Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure at Greifswald University. Here he was elected rector in 1897. In 1899 he was awarded the 3rd Class Red Eagle Order for his services to teaching and research . In 1906, on the occasion of the university's 450th anniversary, he was awarded the title of Secret Judicial Council. He received the 3rd class crown with ribbon in 1911.
