Jakub Nekvapil (born March 30, 1991 ) is a former Czech grass skier . He was a member of the Czech national grass ski team and competed in the World Cup from 2007 to 2009 .

Career

After some successes in junior races , Jakub Nekvapil first took part in FIS races at the age of 15 . His first major event was the 2006 Junior World Championship in Horní Lhota u Ostravy , where he finished eighth in the Super-G, ninth in the combination and 13th in the slalom. At the Junior World Championships in August 2007 he was sixth in the giant slalom, seventh in the super combined and eleventh in the super G. A week later Nekvapil contested his first World Cup race . In the slalom of Čenkovice he finished 22nd and thus won his first World Cup points. He was able to score two more times at the World Cup races in Rettenbach , which put him in 36th place overall in the 2007 season . At the 2007 World Championships in Olešnice v Orlických horách , his best result was 30th place in the super combined.

In the 2008 season , Nekvapil surprisingly reached fourth place in the Čenkovice World Cup Slalom. In the giant slalom he had finished 17th the day before and at the beginning of the season he was 23rd in the super combined in Rettenbach. At two other World Cup starts in Forni di Sopra , he won no points. In the overall World Cup, the Czech came 14th. At the Junior World Championship in Rieden in 2008 , he narrowly missed a medal with fourth place in the Super-G. He finished eighth in the super combination, twelfth in giant slalom and 21st in slalom.

In the 2009 season Jakub Nekvapil only took part in the World Cup races in Wilhelmsburg and Čenkovice. In the second slalom in Čenkovice he achieved twelfth place and in the super combined from Wilhelmsburg ranked 13th, which meant he fell back to 43rd place in the overall ranking. At the Junior World Championship in 2009 he reached fifth place in the Super-G and sixth in the giant slalom. The 15th place in the super combination was his best result at the 2009 World Championships in Rettenbach. He also came in 18th in the Super-G and 28th in the giant slalom. At the end of September 2009 he took part in his last grass ski race in the Czech Republic, he has not been active since 2010.
