Jaltomata propinqua is a plant type from the genus jaltomata in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).
description
Jaltomata propinqua are up to 1.2 m high subshrubs or shrubs . The young shoots, the foliage leaves , the outer side of the crown and the calyx are covered with multicellular, upright trichomes , which are occasionally glandular and usually single-row, but can occasionally also be branched on the calyx. The leaves are single or in pairs, they are lanceolate with a pointed tip to ovate with a blunt tip; with entire margins to wavy and notched and up to 9.5 × 5.5 cm in size, but mostly smaller.
The inflorescences consist of four to seven (rarely up to ten) flowers , rarely the inflorescence is branched. The corolla tube, which is about 5 mm long, is followed by a bent coronet, which gives the flower a diameter of about 2 cm. The center of the crown is dark purple or blue and becomes lighter outwards. The stamens are tomentose at the lower end with single-row trichomes, towards the tip they become hairless. The dark anthers are about 1.3 to 2 mm long. The stylus is about twice as long as the stamens .
Occurrence
The species is mainly found in the province of Huarochirí ( Peru ), but also in the rest of Lima , where it usually occurs between 2,000 and 3,000 m, but can also be found down to 1,800 m and up to 3,800 m. There it grows in stony and gravel locations on dry, open slopes and river banks.
