The Jamaica Station in the district of the same name is the third largest train station in New York and the main hub for the rail traffic of Long Island . It is served by the Long Island Rail Road , the New York City Subway and the AirTrain JFK .
It is divided into three parts: The LIRR station is located between Archer Avenue and 94th Avenue and spans Sutphin Boulevard. To the north of the concourse below Archer Avenue is the Sutphin Boulevard - Archer Avenue - JFK Airport subway station, which is connected underground to the LIRR station. The AirTrain station, opened in 2003, connects to the LIRR station to the south.

Since 2007 the area around the station has been in an urban redesign process. In the course of this, the underpass of Sutphin Boulevard under the train station was redesigned to be pedestrian-friendly .
