Jamal Bakhshpour ( Persian جمال بخش‌‌پور) (Born September 15, 1944 in Tabriz , Iran ; † June 21, 2015 in Cologne ) was an Iranian painter.

Life

Bakhshpour studied with Mohsen Vaziri-Moghaddam , a representative of modern Iranian abstraction , at the Art School, today's University of the Arts, in Tehran , where he graduated in 1967 from the Faculty of Decorative Arts. In 1971 he was voted Outstanding Painter of the Year in a group exhibition at the Tehran Art Museum . Since 1984 he lived and worked in Germany.

The painter and art critic Aydin Aghdashloo wrote in 2001: “Jamal Bakhshpour is one of the ancient and respected contemporary Iranian artists. For the greater part of the past three decades he has lived and worked in Germany. When he first started painting in the 1960s it was a pleasure to observe the technical ability and masterly skill with which he spread the even crosshatch throughout his work and it was evident that he was a painter with a rich imagination is. "

Bakhshpour died of cancer in 2015 at the age of 70. He was buried in the Melaten cemetery in Cologne (hallway 18 (C)).
