James A. Wright

James Assion Wright (born August 11, 1902 in Carnegie , Allegheny County , Pennsylvania , †  November 7, 1963 in Scott , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1941 and 1945 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Wright attended public schools in his home country. In 1923 he graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester ( Massachusetts ). After a subsequent law degree at the University of Pittsburgh and his admission as a lawyer in 1927, he began to work in Carnegie in this profession. Between 1935 and 1941 he served as the assistant prosecutor in Allegheny County. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party .

In the 1940 congressional election , Wright was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 34th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Matthew A. Dunn on January 3, 1941 . After re-election in the 32nd district of his state, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until January 3, 1945 . These were overshadowed by the events of World War II . In 1944 he was not re-elected.

After his time in the US House of Representatives, James Wright practiced law again. He died in Scott on November 7, 1963 and was buried in Carnegie.
