James Corson

James Corson ( James Hunt "Jim" Corson ; born January 14, 1906 in Modesto , California , † November 12, 1981 in Burlingame , California) was an American discus thrower .

In 1927, starting for the College of the Pacific , he became NCAA champion. In 1928 he qualified third in the US championship for the Olympic Games in Amsterdam . There he won the bronze medal with his personal best of 47.10 m behind his compatriot Bud Houser (47.32 m) and the Finn Antero Kivi (47.23 m).

From 1972 to 1973 he was interim president of Willamette University .
