James Dale Strawbridge

James Dale Strawbridge (born April 7, 1824 in Liberty , Montour County , Pennsylvania , †  July 19, 1890 in Danville , Pennsylvania) was an American politician . Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

James Strawbridge attended public schools in his home country. In 1844 he graduated from Princeton College . After a subsequent medical degree at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and his license to practice medicine in 1847, he began to practice this profession in Danville. During the civil war he served as a medic in various units in the Union army . At the end of 1864 he was imprisoned for three months. After the war he continued his work as a doctor. At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party .

In the congressional elections of 1872 Strawbridge was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 13th  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Frank Charles Bunnell on March 4, 1873 . Until March 3, 1875 he was able to complete a legislative term in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, he worked as a doctor again. He died in Danville on July 19, 1890.
